All clinical experiences
are coordinated through
the New Britain School of Nurse Anesthesia and include training at the following
four facilities:
The
Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain Campus
The New Britain General campus is a major teaching affiliate of the University
of Connecticut School of Medicine and is a clinical education site for
physicians, nurses and many other healthcare professionals. With 330 inpatient beds,
this campus includes the Center for Joint Care, the
George Bray Cancer Center, the Joslin Diabetes Center Affiliate, the Sleep
Disorders Center, the Ferdinand Sauer, MD Family Birthplace, and a Top 100
Critical Care Unit.

Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain Campus
Hartford
Hospital (several month rotation)
Hartford Hospital, founded in 1854, is
one of the largest
teaching hospitals and tertiary care centers in New England. A Level I
trauma center with 32 operating rooms, the hospital is an 867-bed regional referral center
that provides high-quality care in all clinical disciplines. Our students
also participate in simulation training in Anesthesia Crisis Management
at
the
state-of the-art Simulation
Center at Hartford Hospital.
St.
Francis Hospital and Medical Center (six week rotation)
A regional referral center
with 617 beds, Saint Francis provides
sophisticated, contemporary medicine with major clinical concentrations in
cardiology, oncology, women's and children's services, behavioral health,
emergency/trauma care and rehabilitation. The first hospital in Connecticut to create a coronary
care unit, Saint Francis established the Hoffman Heart Institute of
Connecticut in 1991.
Connecticut Children's Medical Center
(three week rotation)
CCMC is a teaching hospital and home of the University of Connecticut School of
Medicine Department of
Pediatrics and its residency program in pediatrics. More than 5,000 patients are admitted to medical/surgical units and nearly 6,000
surgeries are performed annually.

Apollo Anesthesia Machine
Academic experience:
Primary basic and applied science didactic courses are
presented at Central Connecticut State University. The faculty at Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain campus present anesthesia
courses. The Program Director is on the
faculty of Central Connecticut State University. Several nurse anesthetists and anesthesiologists participate in
teaching the didactic anesthesia courses at the hospital. Most are also clinical instructors.
