Eight students graduated in October 2003.
Their
event was at the Aqua Turf in Southington. It was a
lovely ceremony which included candles and the passing
of the light to the next class. It was quite beautiful.
We are pleased to have 4 graduates sign on here
and become CRNA teachers: Justin Bruce, Burnette Donato,
Katie Drew, and Terri Williams. Best of luck to
Maureen Carney, Juliet Gumbs, Barbie Kelly and Martin
Songco.

In Memoriam
|
|
We are saddened to announce the death
of Richard Hotes, MD. Rich died in Boston
on June 8, 2003 while undergoing aggressive treatment
for a rare disease called amyloidosis.

Sitting
left to right: Rich, his son Todd, his wife Andi.
Standing:
his daughter Gennifer and his son-in-law.
Rich
was 49 years old. He had been the Chief of the
Anesthesia Department since 1993, and a member of the
department since 1983. Rich will be remembered
for his youthful exuberance, his love of cars, baseball,
rock music and his dedication to his family. The
family requests that memorial donations be made to either
the Amyloid Research Fund in Boston or Beth El Temple
in West Harttford. Joe Sousa, CRNA (class of 97)
is collecting checks made out to either charity, and
they will be earmarked as from New Britain Nurse Anesthetists
so Andi knows who it came from. Mail to: Joe Sousa,
CRNA, Anesthesia Dept, 100 Grand Street, New Britain,
CT 06050.
In 2003, New Britain General Hospital also lost 2
other doctors before their time that you may remember:
Ferdinand Sauer (OB/GYN) and Russell Gee (Ortho).
I can finally confirm the Kim Flanagan (class of
84) died in March 2001.
